Reader’s viewpoint: Ernest is the ‘right person’
I am recently retired from the legal profession, with the last 23 years in service as a magistrate in the Tuscarawas County Juvenile and Probate Court. I whole-heartedly endorse Michael Ernest for Judge of The Common Pleas Court in the coming election. He appeared before me many times as a personal attorney for people in the community and as a prosecuting attorney representing the interests of local government. I have encountered Mike regularly through the years through Mike’s various community interests, such as The Quaker Theatre and The Tuscarawas County Philharmonic Orchestra. He is the right person for this judicial post.
Mike is the same good person in all settings and circumstances: a mix of warmth and personal generosity, propriety, mirth as the occasion warrants, calmness and concern. He is an excellent lawyer and prosecutor: well-prepared, congenial, fair to the facts and law, courteous to opposing parties and witnesses. He does not resort to loud anger in his presentation of the case. His judgment in all things has been trusted by others, both in the courts and in the other aspects of his service to the community. He can be trusted to continue the traditions of decision-making free of partiality to wealth or social standing and of welcoming all litigants, participants and others to the Court so that they need not be intimidated by the courtroom experience.
Mike Ernest will be both strict and fair in his judgments, as the situation requires. It is in his nature. He has the right compass to inform his decisions. We can trust his compass. I urge you to vote for Mike Ernest.
