Reader’s viewpoint: Ernest is the most qualified for judge

I believe Mike Ernest is by far the most qualified to be our next Common Pleas Court Judge. I make this decision after sitting right next to Assistant Prosecutor Ernest as an investigator while he prosecuted some of our County’s biggest cases over the last 20 years. These cases include murders, child molesters and major drug traffickers. He is well respected by Law Enforcement, the Courts and local Attorneys. He is a gifted trial lawyer, well-schooled in the Rules of Evidence and the procedures of the Court. His knowledge goes well beyond law school and is seasoned by being in the trenches. He’s fair, he’s consistent and he’s a winner. If you know Mike then you know he has that rare ability to treat every person with dignity even while putting them away for long periods of time.
Mike is exactly the type of Judge our community would be proud to have. I come to that conclusion by looking at what he has already done for our community. There is a saying I learned while at the FBI Academy — “the best predictor of future behavior is recent, relevant behavior.” Mike’s recent behaviors include being a respected prosecutor, being president of the New Philadelphia Parks and Recreation board, serving as a member of the local drug task force, being a Trustee of Kent Tusc’s University branch district, organizing children’s cross country events, operating a loved local business and by being a loyal and dedicated family man.
Everything about Mike says integrity, compassion and professionalism. If you want to know about a candidate, ask the people who know him best. I invite you to ask any law enforcement officer or attorney that you know and I think you will see as I do, Mike Ernest is our best candidate for Judge.
